Boudin Bakery, Creator of the
Original San Francisco Sourdough French Bread, Announces
the Opening of "Boudin SF" In The Village at Corte Madera
New Concept from San Francisco's Oldest Continuous Operating Business Includes On-Premise Bakery and Distinct Three Day-Part Menu

Scientists have discovered the key to the ability of spicy foods to kill cancer cells.

SAN FRANCISCO (January 9, 2007) - Forklift Brands, the parent company of Boudin Bakery, established in 1849 and the creator of the Original San Francisco Sourdough French Bread, has announced that the company's newest venture, Boudin SF, now has a new location open at The Village at Corte Madera. Located directly across from Nordstrom, Boudin SF is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The new restaurant also features extensive take-out and catering menus, as well as a complete menu just for kids.

The Village at Corte Madera marks Boudin SF's second location. The first opened in July at Costa Mesa's South Coast Plaza and its menu of convenient, great-tasting food has proven extremely popular.

Each Boudin SF location features a working demonstration bakery manned by Boudin's expert bakers, infusing the restaurant with the gloriously irresistible aromas of freshly baked sourdough bread. Visitors also enjoy Boudin SF's warm, lively and entertaining décor and the array of San Francisco art and imagery reflecting Boudin's more than century-and-a-half San Francisco heritage.

"Our goal with Boudin SF is to combine the quality and tradition that Boudin has represented for more than 150 years with the needs of today's on-the-go families," said Dave Wolfgram, CEO of Forklift Brands & Boudin Bakery. "Our guests will experience the sight and aroma of fresh baked bread as our on-site bakers mix, shape, score and bake bread all day, every day. But our sourdough bread is just the beginning. We've also created a menu that offers real, distinct breakfast, lunch and dinner selections, including hot and delicious breakfast classics such as French toast and a croissant sandwich filled with scrambled eggs, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and choice of bacon or ham; signature lunch items including the classic clam chowder in a Boudin sourdough bread bowl and delicious hand-stretched sourdough pizzas; and favorite American dinner classics such as our Crab Macaroni & Cheese."

Ideal for business professionals, travelers on the go and busy parents who want a wholesome yet quick meal for their family, Boudin SF has an array of fresh and flavorful meals made with quality ingredients. All items on the menu are less than $10.
"Boudin SF is a welcoming, fun and family-friendly restaurant," said Boudin Co-chairman Lou Giraudo. "My family has been the steward of the Boudin tradition for three generations and Boudin SF continues my father's longstanding commitment to providing our customers and their families with wholesome, delicious foods at a fair price."
Each Boudin SF is home to a portion of the bakery's "mother dough," created by master baker Isidore Boudin at the start of the Gold Rush from wild yeast indigenous to only San Francisco's fog-cooled climate. A key ingredient in creating the bread's unique dark-golden, crunchy crust and soft, chewy, tangy center, a portion of Boudin's original "mother dough" -- which has been replenished with flour and water every day for more than 150 years -- is present in every loaf of Boudin Original Sourdough French Bread.

"As we open our first Boudin SF location in Northern California, we are proud to note that we've been using the same natural yeast since 1849," said Co-chairman Sharon Duvall, "We will continue to honor the founding principles and Old World baking traditions that have defined Boudin over the years, as the creators of San Francisco's Original Sourdough French Bread."

Boudin SF in The Village at Corte Madera is located at the north end of the center, directly across from Nordstrom. It is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
